On Thursday, July 25, 2024, in a ceremony held at the Waterbury CT Teachers Federal Credit Union Middlebury branch, five area students were awarded a combined $45,000 in scholarships! Benjamin Laros, a 2024 Bunnell High School graduate received The Jean O’Brien Memorial Scholarship. Named for a former Board Member, this 4-year, $5,000 per year scholarship, is granted to one student who has committed to an Education Major and a career in teaching.
Kavi Lezama, a graduate of the Waterbury Arts Magnet School, received the Jack Cronan Scholarship. This one-time $5,000 scholarship was named in honor of our former Board Chairman and is granted to an exemplary Waterbury Resident and Graduating Senior of a Waterbury Public High School. Molly Coakley, a Ridgefield High School graduate received the 2-Year General Scholarship, which is granted at $5,000 per year for two years and is given to the applicant who has the most outstanding academic performance, in addition to an impressive Activities Resume and Essay. Lola McMahon, a Pomperaug Regional High School graduate and Nevaeh Hernandez, a Wolcott High School graduate each received a 1-Year General Scholarship, a one-time award of $5,000. This scholarship is granted to students who have been top performers both in the classroom and in the community. They are distinguished by both their academic performances and extracurricular activities.
